The OTC (over the counter) adhesives do not work well with the silicone relines.
No, however, to work around this an office may treat the metal with MR Bond or Metaltite (depending on the metal) then add a thin layer of Tokuyama Rebase II to the metal, once set add Sofreliner to the newly applied acrylic.
There are two possible causes of poor adhesion and peeling margins; too much primer or not spreading the paste over the denture prior to insertion. When using the primer one – two very thin coast is all that you need, less primer equals better adhesion. Another cause of poor adhesion or peeling at the margins is not spreading the paste evenly over the areas to be relined prior to placing the denture in the mouth, it is very important not to skip this step. For more information there is a very helpful instructional DVD on the Tokuyama website.
Any denture cleaner may be used, keep in mind that some denture cleaners may discolor the silicone but will not degrade the silicone its self. Do Not use a toothbrush on the silicone, use a soft cloth or gauze wipe the denture out.
No, not at this time.
